A Garden Grows in Mount Hope

Supervisor Greg Cox, Community Leaders Break Ground on New Urban Garden

SAN DIEGO – Supervisor Greg Cox joined dozens of residents and community leaders this week to break ground on a new community garden in Southeast San Diego.

The long-awaited Mount Hope Community Garden is the result of years of discussion between residents, community groups, and local government that will allow residents to plant and harvest their own assigned plots. The project was funded in part by a $70,000 grant from the County of San Diego

With this garden, we are helping San Diegans get their own little patch of earth that they can turn into gardens to grow healthy food,

need to get our loved ones and neighbors to eat healthier food and live healthier lifestyles.

The groundbreaking included remarks by community leaders, officials from the City of San Diego and members of the Southeast Economic Development Corporation, which provided the land.

The garden is located at 4261 Market Street in San Diego.
