County Launches Unique Web Site for Mental Health Clients
“Network of Care” is a One-Stop Information
Tool for Services Available in the Community
San Diego is the first county in California to offer a Web site that
provides a comprehensive list of community resources for mental health
consumers, caregivers, and service providers.
“There are so many service providers and programs available in
the community, but it can be hard to find them,” said Board of Supervisors
Chairman, Greg Cox “By providing links to the variety of mental
health resources available in one place, we are helping residents find
the help they need to live more independent lives.”
The “Network of Care” website gives users access to services
such as resource guides, information on diseases and conditions, and links
to current legislation that could affect consumers of mental health services.
One unique feature is “Personal Folder,” a protected, individualized
site where consumers can place their medical history and prescriptions.
The site will be demonstrated to the public at a special kick-off event
at the County Administration Center on Pacific Highway, which will be
attended by special guests from the mental health community, as well as
County and state officials.
“I am excited that we are launching this Web site,” said
Dr. Rodger Lum, Director of the San Diego County Health and Human Services
Agency. “This is a great example of how the public/private partnerships
can foster community engagement and maximize existing resources, to ensure
that there is ‘No Wrong Door’ for those who are trying to
access mental health services.” The Web site address is www.sandiego.networkofcare.org.
