SUPERVISOR COX ELECTED BOARD CHAIRMAN FOR 2020
Cox to Deliver State of the County Address Feb. 19
San Diego -- County Supervisor Greg Cox was unanimously elected Chairman of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors today.
“I’m honored and humbled to be leading a regional government that provides so many important services to the people of this region,” said Cox.
Cox was elected Chairman for the fifth time in his tenure on the Board of Supervisors.
As Chairman, Cox will deliver the annual State of the County Address is on Wednesday, February 19 at 6:30 p.m. The State of the County will be held aboard the USS Midway in downtown San Diego.
“We as a region face many critical issues, including affordable housing, homelessness and the need for more behavioral health services,” said Cox. “I’m looking forward to addressing these issues and many more in the coming year.”
Tuesday’s organizational meeting also included the election of Supervisor Jim Desmond as Vice Chairman and Nathan Fletcher as Chair Pro Tem.
Cox represents District 1, which includes the cities of Chula Vista, Coronado, Imperial Beach, National City, the unincorporated community of Bonita and communities in the City of San Diego, including San Ysidro, Barrio Logan and portions of Point Loma and Southeastern San Diego.
A former Mayor of Chula Vista, Cox has served as President of the California State Association of Counties, President of the League of California Cities and President of the National Association of Counties. In addition to his leadership role on the Board of Supervisors, Cox will continue serving this year as a member of the San Diego International Airport Authority.
