Throughout his career, Supervisor Greg Cox has led the effort to help and protect children who, through no fault of their own, have been placed in the care of Child Welfare Services and are waiting for loving, permanent homes.
Foster children found a champion in Supervisor Greg Cox. He initiated numerous foster care and adoption reforms and generated new resources like having specially trained social workers to coordinate their educational advancement in public schools. He created the San Pasqual Academy, a unique residential campus for foster youth that has garnered national recognition and increased graduation rates for all San Diego children in foster care.
Supervisor Cox led efforts to streamline the County adoptions process to help children in our region find forever homes with loving families. He launched innovative County partnerships with the San Diego Chargers, advocacy groups and CBS8 for profiles of children to create The Heart Gallery highlighting children available for adoption.
Some children need a little more care and attention than others and need more help to heal from physical and emotional wounds. These children face more challenges and need families that are up to meeting those challenges. That’s why Supervisor Cox launched the “Exceptional Families” campaign to find exceptional people willing to open their hearts and homes to these children.
Working with the community, Supervisor Cox is determined to make sure that no child goes without a loving home.
